Mojito Pitcher

Fresh, minty, and perfectly bubbly, this mojito pitcher is the ultimate summer drink. Made with simple ingredients like fresh lime, mint, and sparkling water, it's easy to throw together for backyard barbecues, patio happy hours, or relaxing evenings with friends.

Serve it as a classic rum mojito or make it completely non-alcoholic for a refreshing mocktail everyone can enjoy. Either way, this crowd-pleasing pitcher is guaranteed to disappear fast on a warm summer night.

Pro-tip: Before preparing the pitcher, toss washed, sliced limes in the freezer to use in place of ice cubes.

What you'll need: Makes about 6 drinks
¾ cup freshly squeezed lime juice juice from approximately 6 large limes
½ cup fresh mint leaves
¾ cup simple syrup store-bought or make your own, see Notes
club soda, or ginger ale, or sparkling water
1 cup white rum (use extra club soda or lime soda for a mocktail)
lime wedges or lime coins
whole mint leaves
ice

How to make it:
Add freshly squeezed lime juice and fresh mint leaves to pitcher - reserving some for garnish. Gently muddle mint leaves to release natural oils and flavors. Be careful not to over-muddle.

Add in simple syrup. Stir well. If everyone is consuming alcohol, add 1 cup white rum to the pitcher. If not, add 2 ounces per glass for serving.

Add cubed ice as desired, filling pitcher until approximately a third-to-half-full. Note: amount of ice added can change overall strength of mojitos and total number of mojitos made. Add frozen lime wedges to reduce watered down cocktails.

Fill remainder of pitcher with club soda, then gently stir mixture to incorporate ingredients completely.

Taste mojito mixture and adjust, adding more lime juice, simple syrup, rum, and/or club soda as desired. Stir well after each addition. When satisfied with flavor and strength of mixture, pour mojito mixture into serving glasses. Garnish with lime wedges and 1 to 2 whole mint leaves per glass.

Serve chilled and enjoy responsibly!

Notes:

  • Depending on the size of your pitcher and the amount of ice and club soda you use, this will mix up about 6 mojitos at a time. This mojito pitcher recipe is super easy to make non-alcoholic; just leave out the rum and use more club soda, ginger ale, or lime sparkling water.

  • To make simple syrup: boil 1 cup water + 1 cup sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Shut off the heat and let completely cool before using. Store in the fridge for 7-10 days.

Tips:

  • Freeze lime wedges in advance, then drop them in the pitcher in place of some of the ice cubes. They’ll keep your mixture cold without watering it down as they melt!

  • Careful not to over-muddle the mint. If you do, you’ll end up with bitter mojitos and sucking up mint bits, which you do not want. Use gentle pressure and quick press-and-twist motions to break up the mint leaves just enough to extract some of the oils.
